Someone had clearly jumped from the bridge at Brock and Consumers over the 401. Lanes going west were closed down. I didn't have my tripod but I got the best I could.

Transport truck driver Hardeep Singh Padda escaped uninjured when his rig crashed into a car backing up on Hwy. 401 in Whitby Sunday night. The driver of the car was killed and his passenger suffered life-threatening injuries. Stefanie Swinson files this report.

Two suspects are in custody following a wild chase that began on Hwy. 401 and ended with their vehicle in a ditch on dead end sideroad in the north Durham hamlet of Green River on Thursday morning. Ontario Provincial Police are investigating the incident. Jeff Mitchell files this report.

The last minute push to bring out the vote began before sunrise on Tuesday. Conservative incumbent Jim Flaherty and Liberal candidate Brent Fullard rallied for votes on Thickson Road near the 401 in Whitby. And Flaherty supporters took to the phone lines. Stefanie Swinson files this report.

The official grand opening and dedication of Rob Piontek skatepark was held on Thursday in Courtice.
Piontek was killed in a hit and run accident on highway 401 on Aug. 19, 2007.
Friends, family, and fellow skateboarders came out to the park for the dedication ceremony.

The on-ramp and off-ramp of the westbound 401 at Bennett Road in Clarington were closed Thursday morning because of a tractor trailer rollover and fire.
