Gerald Tooke spent last Saturday Sept. 29 at a Ridout Street Regency Ontario Cottage during the 42nd annual ACO Port Hope House Tour, selling ‘From Georgian to Vernacular’, a new ACO publication that features 133 Port Hope homes. In 1982, thanks to a government grant, Port Hope ACO hired summer students to photograph and chronicle houses of historical and/or architectural interest. The book was never published and the material was mislaid: however, in 2005, the ACO uncovered the text and photographs. Since that time, Mr. Tooke and his wife Joan have devoted many hours scanning the pictures and editing the text to turn the research into a reference book.
