Driver of transport truck escapes fatal Hwy 401 crash uninjured Transport truck driver Hardeep Singh Padda escaped uninjured when his rig crashed into a car backing up on Hwy. 401 in Whitby Sunday night. The driver of the car was killed and his passenger suffered life-threatening injuries. Stefanie Swinson files this report.

Province puts the brakes on speeding Putting the pedal to the metal may get you from point A to point B in a hurry, but when it comes to transport trucks, that extra speed could well be deadly. 17% of all fatal crashes on the 401 involve big rigs. The Province hopes to reduce these accidents by putting limiters on trucks that would prevent them from going over 105 km/h. Stefanie Swinson has the details. Read about it

Whitby hospital evacuated Staff and patients at Lakeridge Health Whitby were evacuated after an electrical fire Monday night. No injuries were reported. Patients were transported to other Lakeridge Health sites in Durham.
