CLARINGTON -- Frosty winter winds blowing into this year’s Family Day weekend couldn’t push away hundreds of local families who ventured out to Courtice Community Complex on Feb. 13.The Winter WonderLearn festival was in full swing from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., offering everything from horse-drawn wagon rides and fire truck tours outdoors to water colour painting and wool spinning workshops inside. Currently in its seventh year, the event is made possible through a partnership between the library, the Municipality of Clarington, Clarington Board of Trade, Clarington Museum and Archives and Ontario Power Generation.

Transport truck driver Hardeep Singh Padda escaped uninjured when his rig crashed into a car backing up on Hwy. 401 in Whitby Sunday night. The driver of the car was killed and his passenger suffered life-threatening injuries. Stefanie Swinson files this report.

Two suspects are in custody following a wild chase that began on Hwy. 401 and ended with their vehicle in a ditch on dead end sideroad in the north Durham hamlet of Green River on Thursday morning. Ontario Provincial Police are investigating the incident. Jeff Mitchell files this report.
